What is a die set?

A die set is a set of tooling for attaching dies to a press machine.It is used to keep the positional relationship between the upper and lower dies correct.

<Advantage of die-set>
By manufacturing a standard die set that can be used in common, it becomes possible to deal with multiple processes and products by replacing only a part (forming parts, etc.).

<Disadvantages of die set>
It is important to ensure "eccentricity accuracy".
If the processing accuracy and assembly accuracy are poor, the concentricity between the punch side (upper side) and the die side (lower side) cannot be secured, which adversely affects the mold and product.

Structure of die set

It consists of a molding part that forms the product in contact with the material, a mounting part that mounts this on the press machine, and a pressure receiving part that relaxes the pressure acting on the molding part and transmits it to the press machine body. Each individual part is designed and manufactured to have as simple a shape as possible.

Different kinds of Die set

There are various types of die sets, which are selected according to the required rigidity, accuracy, and application.
For example, there are steel type and aluminum alloy type in terms of rigidity, and there are many types that mainly have different fitting methods for guide posts and bushes in terms of accuracy. In addition, there are a wide variety of applications, including those for trimming, which can be applied to all genres, but it is necessary to consider price, functionality, and quality when deciding.

Die set product made by YEG

Utilizing the knowledge of about 30 years, not only the design and manufacture of general die sets, but also the number of special die sets has been developed more and more in recent years due to the diversification of customer needs.
Typical examples are enclosed die sets that can be close-forged with a general-purpose press, and high-precision die sets with a concentricity of 10 μm or less for the upper and lower dies. Recently, we have developed a large number of die sets that utilize sensing technology and incorporate PiezoBolt sensors, etc., called smart die sets.
